INDYCAR SEASON TO DATE


Season to Date:

• Dario Franchitti and Will Power split the Firestone Twin 275s at

Texas Motor Speedway. It was Franchitti’s 28th Indy car win, giving him sole possession of 10th on the all-time list. It was Power’s 11th win in Indy car competition, but his first on an oval.

• Power, Franchitti, Mike Conway and Dan Wheldon are the only drivers to win in 2011.

Wheldon won at Indianapolis, Conway won at Long Beach,

Franchitti won at St. Petersburg and Texas 1 and Power won at

 Barber Motorsports Park, Sao Paulo and Texas 2.

• Alex Tagliani and Will Power are the only drivers to win a pole this season.

Tagliani won the Indianapolis 500 and Texas pole – the sixth and seventh of his Indy car career.

Power claimed pole at St. Petersburg, Barber, Long Beach and Sao Paulo – his 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th career

Indy car poles, respectively.

• Two drivers (James Jakes and Charlie Kimball) started their first career

IZOD IndyCar Series race at St. Petersburg. Two more drivers

(James Hinchcliffe and Simon Pagenaud) made their debuts at Barber Motorsports Park.

 Pippa Mann made her debut at Indianapolis. Wade Cunningham made his debut at Texas.

• Dario Franchitti is the only driver to have finished on the lead lap in every race this season.

• Drivers from four different teams are in the top-five in points entering Milwaukee.

• Drivers from eight different teams are in the top-10 in points entering Milwaukee.

• There were a season-high 10 race leaders at Indianapolis.

• Sixteen drivers have recorded at least one top-five finish in

IZOD IndyCar Series competition in 2011.

• Twenty six (26) have recorded at least one top-10 finish in

IZOD IndyCar Series competition in 2011.

Milestones & Records:

• With his victory at Texas Motor Speedway on June 11,

Dario Franchitti passed Johnny Rutherford for 10th on the all-time list

with his 28th Indy car win.

• Will Power claimed his 11th victory in his Indy car career and first on an oval

when he won at Texas Motor Speedway on June 11.

• Dan Wheldon won the 16th race of his Indy car career when he won at

 Indianapolis on May 29.

• Mike Conway won the first race of his Indy car career when he won at

 Long Beach on April 17.

• With a victory in 2011, Helio Castroneves will extend his streak of

consecutive seasons with a win to 12. He holds the IZOD IndyCar Series

 record of 10.

• With a victory in 2011, Scott Dixon will extend his streak of consecutive seasons with a win to seven.

• After winning the PEAK Performance Pole Award at St. Petersburg, Barber,

 Long Beach and Sao Paulo, Will Power reached 20 pole positions in his Indy car career.

 Helio Castroneves needs four earned poles to reach 40 career poles in his Indy car career.

• Dario Franchitti needs one earned pole to reach 25 in his Indy car career.

• Scott Dixon needs four earned poles to reach 20 in his Indy car career.

• With one pole in 2011, Helio Castroneves will extend his IZOD IndyCar Series

record of consecutive seasons with a pole to 10.

• With one pole in 2011, Scott Dixon will extend his IZOD IndyCar Series

 streak to five consecutive seasons.

• Tony Kanaan will attempt to make his 139th consecutive start, the active

leader among IZOD IndyCar Series drivers, which will give him the

IZOD IndyCar Series record. Kanaan and Scott Sharp are currently tied at

138 straight starts. Jimmy Vasser holds the all-time record of 211.

Scott Dixon with 113 is the only other active driver with a streak of more than

100 consecutive starts.

• Danica Patrick has been running at the finish in 40 consecutive races.

She broke the series record at Infineon Raceway in 2010.
