World of Outlaws World Finals 4 Days
Countdown to the Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks: 4 Days
Concord, NC-October 31, 2010- The Fourth Annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina is quickly approaching, November 4-6 for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, along with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds. In the 15 days leading up to the three-day action packed season ender, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers will share their thoughts on what has become one of the “Must See” marquee events of the year.
Next up is Joey Saldana, who won the finale of the World Finals last season to score his 20th A-Feature win of the season to become just the fifth driver in World of Outlaws history to accomplish that feat. The second generation driver, who has raced in each of the first three World Finals, is one of just two drivers that has competed in all 24 previous World of Outlaws events at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. He has two wins at the track in his career to go along with 15 Top-10 finishes. Saldana, who leads the World of Outlaws with 13 A-Feature wins this season, ran second at Charlotte earlier this season in what is a home race for his team, Kasey Kahne Racing, which is based just down the road in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Joey Saldana, Driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Maxim:
“We’ll go there and try to get two wins and just try to finish the year on a good note and work on next year. I’m a race fan so I enjoy racing in general. The way that we pit there, you can go and watch and enjoy all of the racing. It’s neat to be able to go there and watch racing that you normally don’t get to see, especially those types of cars with the Late Models and Big Block Modifieds. They are so much different than what we race and they are the best in the business. It’s going to be pretty entertaining and I’m looking forward to that.”
FORCE HOOD BATTLES LONG DAY TO HOLD ONTO NO. 1
10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals
October 28-31, 2010
The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Las Vegas, NV
FORCE HOOD BATTLES LONG DAY TO HOLD ONTO NO. 1
LAS VEGAS, NV – In a day that could only be described as excruciating Ashley Force Hood held onto the No. 1 qualifying spot at the 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals. The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is recognized as one of the premier racing surfaces in the country, turning out record times but today track clean up vehicles got equal time as the 300 mph Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars. An unbelievable amount of oil downs extended the first nitro qualify session to over four hours. The second session was delayed for almost two hours by persistent oil downs and a spectacular accident by Funny Car driver Jeff Diehl.
At the end of the day Force Hood and her Queen of Hearts Castrol GTX Ford Mustang were able to rise to the occasion and grab her 14th career No. 1 qualifier which ties her with Chuck Etchells for 10th all-time in the Funny Car class. She also has the second most No. 1s for any female professional. The delays taxed everyone’s patience.
“I was most nervous because I did not know what the conditions earlier would do. We were hoping for a little delay to get to run in that cool temperature. Then we were really, really delayed and I was worried if it was getting too cold. You hate to wait all that time and then go ten feet on your run. I was really excited because I knew it was on a really good run,” said Force Hood of her final run.
“I am surprised that more cars did not step up and run quicker. I really think it was up to the tuners to figure this race track and these conditions out. That is a long time to wait and the conditions were changing. I was really proud of my team the in spite of all those distractions and issues we still managed to have a really good run tonight.”
The innumerable delays forced all the teams to get creative and a bit mischievous to fill the time.
“I stole a Goodyear banner of the fence for (Top Alcohol Dragster tuner) Jerry Darien. We just tried to have fun back there in the pits. It was such a long delay that we were back there so far in the lanes we just had to keep ourselves busy and entertained. My sisters were in the car. It was way too long a time for our group to be serious. We told jokes and played some pranks,” confessed Force Hood.
“I came out to watch Robert (Hight) of course. To see that pair was really upsetting on both ends. To see Robert not make the show and then to see Diehl’s accident was scary and I am so glad he is OK. I have never been in this long of a session. You get past the point of being worried about it. It is what it is and I am glad a handful of fans stuck it out and watched until the end. I was just glad we made a good pass that was worth waiting around for. It made it worth the wait.”
In the media center Force Hood recognized the unsung heroes of the day, the track workers.
“The people that work on the Safety Safari and keep the track up are out there working when we are back in the pits having down time. They are out there working during the other categories. It is just amazing. It seems like these last few races we have put them through so crap. It seems like between the weather and then the on track incidents it is like they never get a break. They did a great job to have the final two pairs have two cars run right down there no problem. It showed that this was a perfectly good track in spite of all those obstacles.”
As the No. 1 qualifier Force Hood won Michelle Scharrer of Henderson, Nevada, a Whirlpool washer and dryer set through the BrandSource sponsored Win with Force promotion. If Force Hood or John Force wins the race tomorrow another fan would win a 52” Mitsubishi flat screen TV.
While Force Hood was blazing a trail at the top of the qualifying standings picking up six qualifying bonus points and moving within 33 points (less than two rounds of racing) of Jack Beckman her father was also gobbling up his fair share of bonus points in an effort to make up rounds on points leader Matt Hagan.
John Force entered the event 64 points behind Hagan or the equivalent of four rounds of racing. The points he earned as the No. 2 qualifier along with his five qualifying bonus points moved him within 57 points or three rounds of racing. Going into race day Force is up for the challenge.
“You have to win rounds. The guys here (crew chiefs Mike) Neff,(Austin) Coil and Bernie (Fedderly) gave me a good race car. We’ll just see what happens. We got some bonus points and every point makes you feel more positive. We’ll go out here and see what happens,” said Force.
“You are supposed to be excited about race day. That is what it is all about. That is why we do this. I am going to get up tomorrow and get hopped up. I’ll get a good night’s sleep and we’ll see if our race car can run like it did today. It made a couple good runs but this has been an up and down race track all weekend. At the end of the day this builds a little confidence but we have a long ways to go. (Matt) Hagan is a good racer and he has a great team with good financial backing. He is ahead now so he has to stay secure and we can run. We’ll see what happens.”
In a terrible turn of events Robert Hight and his Auto Club Ford Mustang smoked the tires both runs today and he wound up with the 19th quickest time and will not be racing on Sunday. This DNQ essentially ends the 2009 Full Throttle Funny Car champions bid to repeat. This was Hight’s lone DNQ of 2010 and only the 6th of his career.
Final eliminations will begin at 11 a.m. PT tomorrow.

NHRA JOHN FORCE RACING
FORCE HOOD AND FORCE CASH IN FRIDAY AT LAS VEGAS
LAS VEGAS, NV – John Force gave an impassioned speech to his three teams Friday morning before the crowds poured into The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The theme of the speech was all three of his teams needed to swing for the fences and go after every qualifying bonus point possible for the rest of the season starting today.
After two rounds of qualifying Ashley Force Hood and her specialty themed Queen of Hearts Castrol GTX Ford Mustang were the provisional No. 1 qualifier and owners of four bonus points. Force Hood edged out her father and 14-time champion for the top spot and relegated him to No. 2 spot just ahead of points leader Matt Hagan. It was a solid effort for Force Hood as she and her team reaped the benefits of having most of the attention focused on the teams at the top of the points sheet.
“We’re approaching each round just trying to run the best possible time we can run. We’re not thinking about records or other people in the field. We’re not letting ourselves think like that. We’re just going to take each run as it goes,” said Force Hood.
“It’s fun to do the night session and get a good run. The little points matter, but the rounds are really going to matter. We would love to get two more good runs tomorrow because conditions will be more like what we’ll see on Sunday.”
Force Hood’s first run of the day earned her team one bonus point and her last run, a career quickest at 1,000 feet 4.032 seconds, pushed another three her way. The four points she earned moved her within striking distance of Jack Beckman who is now just 41 points ahead of her. If she can pick up two points on Beckman tomorrow and get Beckman’s lead under 40 points it would be equivalent to cutting a round off his lead on here.
“Running really well is great. The fact that we got some bonus points was even better. You have to look towards Sunday. The little points in qualifying matter a lot but they don’t matter as much as round wins. When you can make good passes in the day time and at night it shows that my crew chiefs have a good handle on this Mustang. That is especially key when you have a new body on your racecar. It is just a huge sigh of relief for us because you just don’t know will it run the same or will it run different. Now we have a good hold of it. Hopefully we can continue to run well tomorrow.”
The Queen of Hearts Castrol Ford Mustang Force Hood is racing this weekend has drawn a lot of positive feedback from the fans and her team.
“Everyone seems to be really excited. It is neat to be here in Vegas since it is a perfect theme for this weekend. It is always great when you do a special body and you can run good. You hate to put all that work in to design and decal and then not have it run as well as you want. You never want that. It is exciting to have that little bit of magic that maybe it is the body especially when it is a body that has all your teammates faces on it,” said Force Hood.
While Force Hood is making up ground herself team leader John Force is also focused on reeling in young Matt Hagan who moved around him into the points lead in Reading, Pennsylvania. Force picked up one point on Hagan in qualifying but the 14-time champion is focused on the big picture and not the pressure of the situation.
“Pressure is what you are supposed to feel. If you are not in it mentally and the gut ached ain’t there then maybe you just don’t care. At the end of the day I am saying we have to outrun this guy (Matt Hagan). We can’t wait for him to fail. We have two good cars right now that went down safe. Ashley ran a 4.03 and I ran a 4.05. Robert will get in there. I feel better than I did this morning,” said Force.
A John Force Racing team member that has a unique position and level of experience is Force Hood co-crew chief Dean “Guido” Antonelli who was a long time crewman for Force and now calls the tuning shots along with Ron Douglas on the Castrol GTX Mustang.
“Job one is for John Force Racing to win. John Force has the best chance of winning the championship so he is the car we need to perform the best. Robert (Hight) and Ashley’s cars both need to run as well as John’s Mustang because we need to be able to take out the competition. That is the only way for him to win. If John and Hagan go to the finals the next two races even if John wins he still won’t get the championship. We need to be able to run as good as John to take Hagan out. That is out goal and at the same time we have a long shot to get our own championship too,” said Antonelli.
The Auto Club Mustang piloted by Robert Hight struggled on Friday smoking the tires in each session. It recorded the 15th quickest run on Friday. Hight will have two shots tomorrow to race his Mustang into the show. The list of non-qualifier Funny Car will make it interesting on Saturday as at least eight teams will be vying for spots in the top sixteen including Hight, Tim Wilkerson, Del Worsham, and Tony Pedregon.
The final two qualifying nitro sessions will be contested at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

World of Outlaws World Finals 5 Days
Countdown to the Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks: 5 Days
Concord, NC-October 30, 2010- The Fourth Annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina is quickly approaching, November 4-6 for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, along with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds. In the 15 days leading up to the three-day action packed season ender, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers will share their thoughts on what has become one of the “Must See” marquee events of the year.
Next up is Jason Meyers, the current World of Outlaws point leader, who is chasing his first career series title. The California native has competed in each of the three previous World Finals, making history by winning the first-ever A-Feature event during the inaugural 2007 edition of the season ending event. He has finished eighth or better in all six of the main events held during the World Finals. In his career at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Meyers has won twice and has racked up 12 Top-10 Finishes with seven Top-Fives. He has finished ninth or better in each of his last nine starts at the track. Meyers has won 10 times this season and holds a 96-point lead on four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz heading into the World Finals.
Jason Meyers, Driver of the No. 14 GLR Investments KPC:
“It’s been a great event since they put it together down in Charlotte and I’ve always enjoyed it. Every year the race track has been good and the racing has been good. We’re looking forward to going down there again this year and with them adding the Big Block Modifieds this year, I’m anxious to see what that will do to the race track. It should be a packed house again this year and a great race. Charlotte is a big horsepower track, but you have to get your car to roll around there as well. It’s a little bit different than any other track we go to and we’ve had a good car down there the last few years. You have to be able to roll the corner there and be able to get the horsepower to the ground. We’re really looking forward to heading over there.”
‘T-Mac’ Chasing Late Model Series Championship
‘T-Mac’ Chasing Late Model Series Championship in a Comeback Season to
Remember
CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2010) – World of Outlaws Late Model Series
star “T-Mac,” Tim McCreadie has his eye on the series championship entering
next weekend’s season-ending Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals
presented by Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks, in what has already been a
comeback season to remember.
This year marks McCreadie’s first full season back in World of
Outlaws since a traumatic accident in the 2009 Chili Bowl Nationals left him
with a fractured T-3 vertebra and floating bone fragments in his back. The
wreck sidelined T-Mac for the first five months of the 2009 season as he
went through extensive rehab.
“I was very fortunate,” said McCreadie. “When I first came back I
didn’t know if I would be able to race at the competitive level I am used
to. It’s a relief. It was more of a, ‘Thank God I can still do this,’
feeling, because I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t race.”
McCreadie’s return mid-season last year showed promising results as
he scored one victory and six top-five finishes ending the season 19th in
the point standings.
T-Mac’s momentum from his limited-schedule success in 2009 has
carried into this season as he has amassed four wins, 21 top fives, and 36
top-10 finishes to date. McCreadie also currently sits third in the
championship point standings going into the World Finals next weekend, just
94 markers behind points leader Josh Richards.
The prestigious World Finals brings together dirt racing’s three
premier divisions, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the World of
Outlaws Late Model Series and the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds,
for three nights of on-track action that crowns their respective champions.
McCreadie’s return to The Dirt Track for the World Finals comes
after an impressive runner-up finish in the World of Outlaws Late Model
Showdown held less than three weeks ago on the lightning-fast,
four-tenths-mile clay oval.
“The Dirt Track at Charlotte just fits my style,” explained
McCreadie. “Any place you can race that has top and bottom grooves is a lot
of fun. I really enjoy going to Charlotte, which probably makes me work a
lot harder than I would if I were going to a place I didn’t like.
“The good thing about Charlotte is that if you are competitive it
doesn’t really matter if you start on the pole or further back in the field.
You can usually go forward pretty quickly and pass when you have a fast car.
That’s what we are hoping to do and that’s why we enjoy racing there.”
Although McCreadie seems to do well at The Dirt Track, he knows it
is going to take a lot more than a good run to come out of next weekend as
the 2010 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion.
“We are more of a wild card going into the World Finals,” said
McCreadie. “We’re just focused on winning because it’s going to take a lot
for us to win the championship. If I can win both nights and Josh [Richards]
and Darrell [Lanigan] have a little misfortune, then we could have a shot.”
No matter what happens next weekend, McCreadie is just happy to be
in the car and racing competitively for wins.
“Right now I’m just focused on winning,” McCreadie continued. “I’m
just trying to go down there and take home 20 grand out of that place [The
Dirt Track at Charlotte] and have some fun doing it.”
The Watertown, N.Y., native, McCreadie will be vying for a chance to
visit Victory Lane Friday and Saturday as both nights are highlighted by
$10,000-to-win main events. T-Mac will attempt to accomplish this feat in
front of an international crowd, as thousands of fans from 48 states, eight
Canadian provinces Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom will be in
attendance to witness “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”
Thursday night all three series will practice and qualify. The
sprint cars and late models will each have two time trial sessions, with the
first round determining lineups for Friday night and the second round
setting the Saturday night card. The Big-Block Modifieds will set heat race
lineups with timed hot laps. Thursday night’s heat races will determine
Friday and Saturday A-Feature lineups.
Full racing programs are on tap for all three divisions Friday and
Saturday with each night highlighted by $10,000-to-win main events for both
the sprint cars and late models and $6,000-to-win main events for the
Big-Block Modifieds.
A record amount of sprint cars, late models and Big-Block Modifieds
are anticipated for the largest event of the year at The Dirt Track.
World of Outlaws Late Model Series drivers scheduled to participate
in addition to McCreadie are points leader and 2009 series champion
Richards, who leads title contender Darrell Lanigan by just 22 points; Scott
Bloomquist, The Dirt Track’s winningest driver; along with series regulars
Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert, Steve Francis, Chub Frank and Austin Hubbard.
Among the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers expected to
compete are sprint car legend and 20-time champion Steve Kinser; four-time
champion Donny Schatz; points leader Jason Meyers; and sprint car stars
Craig Dollansky, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana and Jason Sides

Countdown to the Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks: 6 Days
Concord, NC-October 29, 2010- The Fourth Annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina is quickly approaching, November 4-6 for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, along with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds. In the 15 days leading up to the three-day action packed season ender, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers will share their thoughts on what has become one of the “Must See” marquee events of the year.
Next up is Paul McMahan, who competed in each of the first two World Finals and will be returning to the event this season for the first time since 2008. The veteran has raced 18 times at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, scoring nine Top-10 finishes along the way, with five of those being Top-Fives. He finished seventh at the track earlier this season as he continues to fill in for the injured Cody Darrah at Kasey Kahne Racing, which is based just down the road from the track in Mooresville, North Carolina. McMahan has won once this season and has 49 Top-10 finishes as he battles for the fifth spot in points.
Paul McMahan, Driver of the No. 91 Great Clips Maxim:
“It’s fun to go to Charlotte and race, but it’s kind of bittersweet for me because it’s the end of the season. I’m really excited to go to Charlotte, but at the same time I don’t want to see the season end yet. It will be something different having the Big Block Modifieds there and it will be fun and bring new fans to our races I hope. As a driver it’s neat to see the (Billy) Moyer’s and the (Donny) Moran’s, the Bret Hearn’s and the guys we don’t get to see race very often be out there. That will be pretty cool.”
The finale of the World Finals will air live on SPEED on Saturday, November 6 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern, with Bobby Gerould on the call with Hall of Famer Brad Doty offering expert analysis.

The native of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, made his first start at The Dirt Track at Charlotte back in May, winning a heat race to earn a spot in the dash. He followed that up the next night at Tri-City Speedway in Pennsylvania with another appearance in the dash. Toni Lutar, Driver of the No. 4X Northwest Used Auto Parts KPC:
“We’re definitely looking forward to heading to Charlotte. We ran there earlier this year and did pretty good there. It will be fun going back. There will be a good crowd for sure with the three divisions of cars there and some great competition in all the divisions. I like watching the Late Models especially guys like Scott Bloomquist.
